Last week, I talked about how to set goals for the new year that you can actually achieve. This week, I want to share with you a few products that I am incorporating into my life to ensure a healthy and happy new year!
Before I get to the good stuff, I do want to clarify… If you read my last post, you’ll see a section where I said that I think the whole “resolution” idea is driven by those who want to sell us more stuff. I still stand by that. At the same time, I also love products that actually help you work towards being a better, healthier, saner you. I think our goal as consumers should be to remain focused on whether our purchases add value to our lives. And if they do, then I think you should go for it. So, there ya go.
Now, on to the good stuff! My first two faves are for the mental wellness side of things:
Every year, I go searching for the next best planner that will help me keep my s*^# together. Every year, I start off with one thinking it’s going to be great. Eventually, I’ll notice that it became unused just like the rest of them. This year, I stopped looking for a new planner. And lo and behold, one just fell into my lap! I found it as I was standing in line to ship a package and I just love it. It’s exactly what I always wanted. It’s got a good dose of pages devoted to goal planning which I always like at the beginning of the year. And the planner, at least for a mom, is perfection. What I like most is that it has a place at the top of each day for you to outline your top 3 tasks. Because we can all totally get our heads around accomplishing 3 major things a day, right? And then when those are done? Bam! You just won your day! It also has place to makes notes on gratitude each week and, as you already know, I’m a big fan of gratitude!
“52 Lists for Happiness” by Moorea Seal
This came to me as a Christmas gift and I believe that it will become one of those beloved books that I never knew I needed. This book contains one list for every week in the year and is aimed at helping you find more joy and happiness in your life. I mean, what better way to ring in the new year than to by being more mindful of the things that matter to our hearts? What I love even more is that each list includes an “action step”, therefore providing you with not only insight into the unique things that makes you happy, but helping you turn those things into actionable steps you can use to make positive changes. So far, I am loving this book!
If you decide to start this, send me a message and let me know… I’d love to start a little group that can check in on each others experience and progress this year! (to my sister-in-law: thank you for this thoughtful gift. I truly love it.)
The next two are for physical wellness side of things:
You have probably heard me talk about this app before here and here… but let me just comment on this one more time. If improving your strength and stamina or getting more exercise into your life is part of the plan for this year, I can not recommend this app more. I adore my pilates, barre, and yoga classes, but I also love getting workouts in solo. What I always hated about doing that in the past, was figuring out what in the world to do. Although I know how to build a workout, I wasn’t a big fan of doing all that planning just to go to the gym… enter FitBod. This handy little app does all the work for you and it goes wherever your phone goes. That means you can workout at home, on vacation, or wherever life requires you to be. Use my code “HealthyasHeck” for 25% off!
I’m getting closer and closer to the 40 mark and it occurred to me recently that I really don’t do enough to take care of my body from the inside out. So I started taking a good vitamin and added collagen into my diet to help my hair, skin, and nails because, well, ya gotta start somewhere, right? I tried a few collagen products but had a hard time finding one that I really couldn’t taste in my coffee. Until Organisource! This product is genuinely undetectable in my morning brew… I’m sure it’s also undetectable in other things too (I’ll let you know as soon as I try that out), but for me, putting it in my coffee is the easiest way to ensure I take it… because I NEVER miss my coffee. I’d die. I’m loving this product so much that I decided to partner with them which means you can use my code “Healthyasheck” for 15% off anything you order from their website (they also have a turmeric, super greens, and spirulina product that I plan to try soon!)
And one final thing that is specially selected for my Momma’s:
“Does This Pregnancy Make Me Look Fat?” by Claire Mysko and Magali Amadei
If you are, or know, a soon-to-be Mom or a recent new Mom who is struggling with all the physical changes that come along with pre- and post-partum life, I highly recommend this book. Negative body image can be such a huge distraction from all the special moments of pregnancy. I know that growing belly (and butt, and arms, and boobs, and everything else) was often hard to accept for me (as well as the hair loss and hundreds of other fun changes that come with baby). You’re trying to so hard to show up and enjoy it all, but often the insecurities about your body and your appearance can really interfere. If you’re going into this new year hoping to heal some of those body image issues, this book is a great read. Let me be clear… this is NOT a book about getting your pre-baby body back, but rather a great no-nonsense read about all the ways to plan for and cope with the changes that happen. In the words of the authors: “…every woman deserves to go to sleep believing deeply and implicitly in her own beauty. Our children need us to believe in our beauty. Each morning you wake up feeling stronger and more confident, you will be better prepared to help your daughters and sons find their strength and confidence.” I mean, c’mon, how amazing are those words? Grab one for yourself or for a friend that you think could use a pre-or post-partum self-confidence boost!
Let me know if you try any of these! You can send me a message through the contact me page, or via Instagram, Facebook, or Twitter!
As always, stay Healthy as Heck! KH
Great list! I am going to have to check out the collagen, I haven’t found one with no taste either.
Shannon, it’s honestly really good… you can’t tell it’s in your drink at all. Let me know what you think if you decide to try it!
I will have to try that fitbod app! That is one thing on my 2019 goals list. Thanks for sharing!
Yay!! I hope you love it as much as I do. You’ll have to check back and let me know what you think 🙂
Some great finds here! That FitBod app looks very cool and the collagen sounds like something I could really use as I turned 45 this year! Thanks so much.
Wonderful List. I am really into planners I need to check this day designer out. Maybe I’ll feel better if I work on just 3 goals a day lol. I tend to over fill my planner with to do lists.
Great post! I’m going to check out the fitbod app. I’m not one for resolutions but I do have goals to live a healthier life.
I love goals way more than resolutions too! Definitely try it and let me know what you think! Good Luck with all your goals!
Lydia, me too!! My lists are always so long and impossible to finish… but 3/day I can totally handle! Hope you love it too!
You’re so welcome! If you decide to try any of them, please let me know your thoughts! I hope you enjoy them as much as I do!
Love the collagen powder! It’s completely tasteless and mixes well in my coffee. Thanks for the info!!
I love the collagen and 52 list for happiness, I love your blog! One thing i regret is I was not able to have a blog yet during my pretty days.
Thank you! I’m so glad you enjoyed it!! Do you have the collagen?! It’s SO good! I’m actually looking at my 52 lists book now realizing I didn’t do one this week… so thanks for the reminder! haha
Glad you love it 🙂
